Virtuoso jazz harpist Lori Andrews was one of the first musicians Ken called when he started writing and orchestrating the music for "Music For Guitar And Orchestra". Lori is one of the few true jazz harpists on the planet and she and Ken speak in detail about how Ken used the harp on this new album. They also discuss some of the techniques Lori has created to make jazz music “groove” on a harp and the way she learned to solo on an instrument which is not known for improvisation. This is an amazing insight into the harp and as an added bonus, an incredibly informative journey into how a classically trained harpist becomes a jazz virtuoso.

The University of Redlands is located in Redlands, California, halfway between Los Angeles and Palm Springs, within easy driving distance to beaches and mountains. The University of Redlands School of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
Conference organizers have planned a rich and varied program, including lectures, workshops, panel discussions and concerts celebrating the legacy of the Northern California Harpists Association (the precursor organization to the AHS), the contributions of legendary California harpists and composers including Anne Adams, Kajetan Attl, DeWayne Fulton, Alfred Kastner, Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, and the list goes on!
There will be ensembles for young harpists and for adult harpists; master classes and workshops with Metropolitan Opera Principal Harpist Emmanuel Ceysson, performances of the music of 20th Century composers Lou Harrison, Alan Hovhaness, Conrad Susa, David Watkins, and more, a delightful exploration of all it means to work in the Hollywood studio milieu, a hands on historical harps museum opportunity and multiple experts presenting on the cultural and musical influences of Latin artists in southern California.
